After working in retail management for over 30 years, I returned to an interest I had shared with my father as a boy. He was a woodworker for the California State Parks Department.

Just for fun, I started to make custom wood signs for many people and businesses in my workshop. Soon I discovered there was a market for custom made, hand carved signs. That's when I started Signs in Wood, which I later renamed Watson’s Wooden Words.

We use old world craftsmanship and modern technology from concept to finished piece, preferring to work with various types of cedar, but regularly work with cherry, mahogany, oak and walnut. Once the wood is chosen, we use a combination of old and new techniques to create masterpieces with attention to the tiniest details. And we only work with the finest craftspeople.

We have taken great joy in crafting gifts for individuals that last a lifetime. And we have worked with all types of groups and organizations, including large corporations, HOAs, historical societies and small businesses. We look forward to working with you on your custom project.
